Grace…it is more than my middle name

This week’s topic was Grace. True grace.

The brave enough video and testimony were powerful and made me cry both times I watched it. Not any particular issue or sin but just the reminder of God’s amazing grace. And when I hear things whispered in my head like “You are not enough”, I can remember grace! When I try to grab a flashlight and shine it in my own dark places, I can remember that it isn’t my job and I am not capable of it. God shines the light and also provides the covering… that is grace.  Okay…I just got a little teary twinge at the word covering. I am just overwhelmed that God covers us. Through Jesus we are covered!!! And out teens are covered. We just have to be brave enough to allow Him in. Amen.

Here are the video notes:

“Giving ourselves grace” doesn’t work.

You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. Psalm 18:28, nlt

True grace comes in the life and person of Jesus.

This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life.
1 John 1:2, nlt

You cannot overestimate the power of grace.

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, but not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
1 John 2:2

We prayed for one another and this was a prayer we could use. I am changing it slightly so you can pray it for yourself right now:

Dear God, you know me inside and out. Please strengthen me in my areas of weakness and help me know true grace.

This is a prayer I prayed for a family member:

Do not let ______________ be stiff-necked; instead cause him to submit to you. Let him return to you so that you can pour out your compassion and your grace on his life.  (2 Chronicles 30:8-9)
